13 year old boy bullied for making an book review account

He was bullied for loving books. But his big sister tweetet about it, and book lovers and authors stepped up and made the book review account famous overnight.

Callum is a 13 year old boy who started a book review account on Instagram account about books he had read. But when some of the pupils at his school heard about it, they bullied him in a group chat they added him to.

“I don’t tend to cry that often but I think that was the first time in a while I’ve actually cried,” Callum told PA Media.

Callum’s older sister, Ellis Landreth, 24, then tweeted about the incident:

“Can’t believe how awful kids are. My little brothers [sic] made an Instagram reviewing and talking about books and kids in his new school have seen it and have created a group chat calling him a creep slagging him off about it and added him to it so he could see.”

The tweet went viral. As a result, people started to follow Cals book account and sent a lot of positive messages to him. Some of the messages were from authors like Malorie BlackmanMatt Haig and Caroline Kepnes.

Overnight Callum’s account went from 39 to 200 000 followers, and the followers continued to dropp in. The 13 year old boy have now 345 000 followers.

His mother, Carla Landreth, said he had been in tears on Friday but the outpouring of support had seen his confidence soar. “We’re just so shocked. It’s been absolutely brilliant,” she said according to The Guardian.
